Sogetsu School New Delhi Online Demonstration

Sogetsu School, New Delhi will hold an online demonstration on Saturday, 20th November 2021.

The teacher is Ms. Mary Marques.

Ms. Mary Marques is a Riji. She began teaching Ikebana in the year 1980.  She has received many awards and recognition which include the Overseas Merit/ Honour Award from Sogetsu School in 1997, 2007 and 2017. Ms. Marques has been President of the Harare Chapter of the Sogetsu School many times and also held and hosted many workshops. She has also assisted a number of Sogetsu Masters in their workshops. She has also held various international demonstrations across the world.

Zimbabwe is the Stone Carving Capital of the world. Each piece is hand carved using only a hammer, chisel, file, water and sandpaper. The stone sculptures are often called Shona sculptures named after the largest tribe involved in carving in the country. Ms. Mary Marques will give us some idea of what they are like and how they can be used creatively with Ikebana.
