This year, we will hold our Annual Exhibition at two venues simultaneously,based on the two entirely different exhibition concepts.
Each venue will explore the new possibility of Ikebana and present the future it is heading for.

Message from Iemoto Akane Teshigahara
The 101st Sogetsu Annual Exhibition will be held at two venues, namely the Sogetsu Kaikan (the building of Sogetsu Foundation Headquarters) and Spiral, both of which are along Aoyama dori Ave., based on the two entirely different exhibition concepts.
The title of the one at the Sogetsu Kaikan is “Learn from yesterday, Arrange for today, Seek tomorrow’s expression.” The Sogetsu School of Ikebana has been exploring the potential of plants for more than 90 years since its foundation. Its philosophy and techniques will be presented in ways possible only in the space there.
The other venue “Spiral” is known as a communication hub of contemporary culture. The exhibition there will be an attempt to deviate from the conventional one under the title of “Just beautiful is not enough·, a phrase Taro Okamoto once used when empathizing with the works of Sofu Teshigahara, the first Iemoto of Sogetsu School.
How far can our ikebana go now?
