【feature】The Age of Avant-garde Ceramics

Sogetsu has a unique collection of avant-garde ceramics crafted by renowned artists, including Pablo Picasso, lsamu Noguchi, Miwa Ryosaku, and Uno Sango. The avant—garde ceramics that emerged after World War Ⅱ, resonating with the spirit of a more liberated era, still inspire ikebana artists with their provocative aesthetics. lemoto Teshigahara Akane embraced the challenge of incorporating seven innovative ceramic vases into her ikebana creations.

Ikebana and water

100th Anniversary of the Birth of Abe Kobo : Suna no Onna (Woman in the Dunes)

‘Suna no Onna (Woman in the Dunes)’, a masterpiece of Abe Kobo, a famous writer, was made into a movie directed by Teshigahara Hiroshi in 1964. Mr. Kawana Tetsunori, a master instructor, made Ikebana works in homage to the movie on the 100th anniversary of Abe Kobo’s birth. Hiroshi’s contribution to the newspaper about Abe as a scenario writer is interesting.
