Kenka at To-ji Temple, Todai-ji Temple
Last autumn, Iemoto was invited to practice Kenka – the offering of flowers in memoriak services – at To-ju Temple in Kyoto and Todai-ji Temple in Nara.
You will feel a solemn atmosphere Kenka created through this article. The topic ‘Visiting To-ji Temple’ focuses on Iemoto’s re-visit to the temple, during which she thought about 1200-year history of Mikkyo, an esoteric Buddhism looking at the Five-storied Pagoda and precious statues of Buddha, after her performance of Kenka there.
Displaying Ikebana in a Specific Location, Autumn in Azumino
The Nagano Branch workshop, under guidance of the Iemoto Akane, was held at a museum commemorating Takahashi Setsuro, one of the leading contemporary Urushi lacquer craft artists. The theme of this event was ‘Displaying Ikebana in a Specific Location, Autumn in Azumino’. As with beautiful leaves which were turning red in autumn, all the works created by groups and each ikebanist were in harmony with this wonderful place.
Lines of Spring
Carefree, airy, flexible, rhythmical… Lines can be infinitely expressive. Nine ikebana artists give shape to spring using unique lines and flamboyant colors.
The 104th Sogetsu Annual Exhibition
The Sogetsu Annual Exhibition was held in October 2023, with works by totally 514
ikebanists during the first and second terms. Visitors were fascinated by wonderful works by the exhibitors who loved flowers as part of their lives. You will be charmed by photos of the Iemoto’s works and all those exhibited at the special area called ‘Line, Color and Mass’.
